Lab Results & Quality Assurance

Every compound we supply is independently verified by certified third-party laboratories using HPLC and Mass Spectrometry. A Certificate of Analysis confirming purity and identity is issued for each lot — before it ever leaves our facility.

Our Testing Process

From synthesis to certified shipment

Quality is built into a three-step chain of custody. No lot is released for sale until each step is complete and documented.

  1. Synthesis

Each compound is synthesized to a defined specification under controlled conditions. A unique lot number is assigned so every batch is fully traceable from production through to shipment.

  2. Third-Party HPLC/MS Testing

A sample from every lot is sent to an independent, certified laboratory. High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) confirms purity while Mass Spectrometry (MS) verifies molecular identity and weight.

  3. COA Issued Before Shipment

No lot is released until its Certificate of Analysis is on file. The COA documents the lot number, test methods, measured purity, and a pass/fail result — issued before the product ever ships.

What We Test For

Five quality markers on every Certificate of Analysis

Purity is only part of the picture. Each lot is screened across multiple analytical parameters to confirm it meets a research-grade standard.

Purity (≥99%)

HPLC quantifies the proportion of the target compound relative to impurities. We hold our research compounds to a ≥99% purity threshold, with the exact measured figure recorded on each COA.

Identity Confirmation

Mass Spectrometry confirms the molecular weight matches the expected structure, verifying the compound is exactly what the label states and free of misidentification.

Heavy Metals Absent

Samples are screened for heavy-metal contaminants such as lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury to ensure they fall below detectable thresholds for research-grade material.

Sterility (Injectable-Grade)

Lyophilized compounds intended for reconstitution are assessed for microbial contamination so that, once reconstituted under sterile technique, they remain suitable for laboratory research.

Endotoxin Testing

Bacterial endotoxin (LAL) testing screens for pyrogenic contaminants — a critical quality marker for any compound handled in sensitive in vitro research applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about our testing

What is an HPLC test?

High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is an analytical technique that separates the components of a mixture and measures their relative amounts. For a research peptide, HPLC quantifies how much of the sample is the target compound versus impurities — producing the purity percentage you see on a Certificate of Analysis.

Can I request my product’s COA?

Yes. Every lot we ship has a Certificate of Analysis on file. You can view available COAs on our COAs page, use the "Request COA" button on any product page, or contact us with your product and lot number and we will provide the corresponding documentation.

How often are products retested?

Testing is performed on a per-lot basis. Each new batch of a compound is independently tested before release, so the COA always corresponds to the specific lot you receive rather than a generic or historical sample.

Are your peptides tested for sterility?

Lyophilized compounds intended for reconstitution are assessed for microbial contamination and, where applicable, bacterial endotoxins. This helps ensure that material handled under proper sterile technique remains suitable for in vitro laboratory research.

Who performs the laboratory testing?

All analytical testing is carried out by independent, certified third-party laboratories with no affiliation to Coastal Bio Labs. We do not test in-house, which keeps the results objective and verifiable.
